Dear Parent,

The first Shim Academy was established in 1975 under the direction of Grandmaster Hyok Kun Shim.  Grandmaster Shim was the first to introduce a type of martial arts training that encompassed disciplinary education within an atmosphere that preserved human values and individual identity.  In 1997, The Shim Academy of Montessori was founded in an effort to create a non-biased curriculum within a multi-cultural, mixed socio-economic, interracial environment, where children and teachers can delight in each individual's special qualities.

Today, The Shim Academy is proud to introduce The Lighthouse Learning Center.  Our new learning center will offer childcare for toddlers and children from 18 months to 5 years old.  Toddlers and children may enroll for our extended day from 7:00am to 6:00pm, all day from 8:00am to 3:00pm, or half day from 8:00am to 12:00pm.  Our learning center's curriculum is designed to provide the fundamental skills of early childhood education.
